TRUE STORY & I still cringe about it!😳I’d just finished setting up @shopdordana pop-up shop in Dobbies Garden Centre. Everything laid out nicely, soap on display, big sign right in front of me.When a person excitedly hurried over, picked up a mini soap bar and said, “Oh my god, I love Turkish delight, what flavour is this?”It was soap. On a soap stall. 🤦🏻‍♀️My heart sank when I told her and realised she was disappointed. Needless to say we both felt a bit awkward and tried to laugh it off, obviously she moved on without purchasing!😅I genuinely wanted to pack everything up and leave there and then.🫠But it taught me that 1) you gotta get over disappointments quickly and 2) people don’t always notice what’s in front of them. They make quick assumptions, they need a conversation not just signage.Anyway, hope I’m not the only one this has happened to! Turns out, writing business plans are optional but community isn’t. ❤️Last year I joined a free programme for female entrepreneurs in the early stages of their business.The workshops, mentoring and pitching opportunities were brilliant, but the biggest takeaway was meeting women building businesses of their own who I now call friends.As an introvert, networking among strangers doesn’t come naturally to me.
